Since 1994 Highlands Ballet Company has provided aspiring young dancers with support, education, and an appreciation for the fine art of dance.  HBC provides a showcase for potential professional dancers while offering advanced students the opportunity to share the special training & performing experiences offered by a civic dance company.  Original choreography & artistic vision is the hallmark of Highlands Ballet Company’s directors, Deanna Cole-Roberts and Deirdre Cole.

For more than 25 years Highlands Ballet Company has offered programs of cultural, educational, and entertaining value to communities in Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee. The company performs multiple full-length productions each year such as The Nutcracker, A Christmas Carol, Robin Hood, Sleeping Beauty, In Celtic Days, Coppelia, Beauty & the Beast, The Wizard of Oz, Aladdin, Alice in Wonderland, and Magic Butterfly. Highlands Center for Ballet Arts, HBC’s feeder school, produces a yearly recital following the same professional format as company productions. Highlands Ballet dancers participate in additional performing opportunities such as the Virginia Highlands Festival, Abingdon Community Christmas, Mistletoe Market, and privately contracted performances for local civic organizations.
